General Manager – Restaurant | Quarteira, Algarve
An established and popular restaurant in Quarteira, Algarve is looking for an experienced General Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the business and work closely with the owners.
This is a hands-on, front-of-house and operational leadership position for someone who genuinely enjoys hospitality and being present within the restaurant.
We are looking for a General Manager with a warm, lively and outgoing personality who is confident engaging with guests, while also having the maturity and management experience required to lead a team, maintain professional boundaries and make sound decisions in the best interests of the business.
The successful candidate will become a trusted representative of the owners on site, taking ownership of daily operations and ensuring the restaurant continues to operate smoothly and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the smooth day-to-day operation of the restaurant
- Maintain a strong and visible presence front-of-house
- Welcome and engage with guests and contribute to an excellent customer experience
- Manage staff rotas, attendance and day-to-day team requirements
- Support recruitment and onboarding of new team members
- Manage staff performance, conduct and service standards
- Lead the team fairly, professionally and consistently
- Coordinate stock, purchasing, suppliers and wider operational logistics
- Ensure agreed restaurant standards, procedures and expectations are maintained
- Identify and resolve operational issues as they arise
- Keep the owners informed regarding restaurant operations and escalate any concerns appropriately
- Ensure decisions and agreed actions are effectively implemented across the team
About You
To be considered, you should have:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience within the hospitality industry
- Strong restaurant management or senior hospitality management experience
- Fluent English and Portuguese – essential
- Strong people management and organisational skills
- Confidence managing staff and making independent decisions
- A naturally outgoing, personable and engaging approach
- Strong front-of-house and guest relations skills
- The ability to remain professional and maintain appropriate management boundaries
- A reliable, discreet and responsible approach
- The confidence to represent the owners and take genuine ownership of the operation
Working Pattern
This is a full-time position based in Quarteira.
Applicants must be comfortable working within the operational demands of the restaurant industry. Weekend availability is essential, with regular evening work also required during the busier summer months.
