LIVE-IN / LIVE-OUT GOVERNESS / NANNY – ALGARVE (MONCHIQUE AREA)
We are seeking a caring, flexible and practical Governess/Nanny to join a family-based, nature-oriented home in the Monchique area of the Algarve. This is a long-term position within a rural estate project focused on nature, sustainability, and a home-education (unschooling) lifestyle.
Role Overview
This is a balanced role combining childcare (approx. 50%) and household support (approx. 50%). The successful candidate will support one child in a home-based, experiential learning
environment while also assisting with daily household management.
Key Responsibilities
• Full childcare and supervision in a home-based unschooling environment
• Supporting learning through daily interaction and activities
• Meal preparation and light cooking
• Grocery shopping and household provisioning
• Laundry and general housekeeping
• Occasional pet care (as needed)
• Occasional travel with the family
• Future support with preparation/cleaning of guest accommodation as the project develops
Working Hours
• 08:30–13:30 & 15:00–18:00
• Days off: Sunday & Monday
• Some Saturday flexibility may be required (to be agreed in advance)
Candidate Profile
• Experience in childcare/nanny/governess roles (5+ years preferred, though motivated candidates welcome)
• Calm, adaptable, and hands-on approach
• Comfortable in a rural/nature-based lifestyle
• Open to a flexible, unschooling philosophy
• Strong sense of responsibility and emotional maturity

• Salary: Up to €24,000 gross/year (all-inclusive)
